چکیده

Abstract. Shaibu CO, Dinshiya J, VE. 2022. Short Communication: Extraction and characterization of pectin from ripe unripe mango (Mangifera indica) peel. Asian J Nat Prod Biochem 20: 16-20. Pectin is a heteropolysaccharide present in the cell walls different plants at concentrations with widespread applications. This work aimed extracting characterizing peel to investigate effect ripeness on yield quality pectin. To obtain optimum extraction condition, was extracted varying temperatures, time pH using 0.1 N HCl as solvent. The maximum found be 22.67% for 21.90% conditions were 90ºC, 60mins 1.5. then characterized. moisture content, ash methoxyl equivalent weight, anhydrouronic acid degree esterification 8.76±0.08%, 10.12±0.47%, 9.17±0.27%, 883.07±13.85 g, 72.45±0.59 72.52±0.09% , respectively. In contrast, those 8.13±0.13%, 9.12±0.34%, 8.83±0.19%, 823.38±14.07 71.56±0.34%, 70.34±0.38%, study showed that might more suitable use source. However, could considered an alternative source food processing, pharmaceutical industries, various places application.

Optimization of Freeze Drying Conditions for Purified Pectinase from Mango (Mangifera indica cv. Chokanan) Peel

Response surface methodology (RSM) along with central composite design (CCD) was applied to optimize the freeze drying conditions for purified pectinase from mango (Mangifera indica cv. Chokanan) peel. The effect of pectinase content (-2.66, 62.66 mg/mL), Arabic gum (-1.21, 10.21%, w/v), and maltodextrin (0.73, 7.26%, w/v) as independent variables on activity, yield, and storage stability of fr...

Anthelmintic activity of unripe Mangifera indica L. (Mango) against Strongyloides stercolaris

Infections with Strongyloides stercoralis and other helminths represent important, yet often neglected issues in developing countries. Indeed, strongyloidiasis can be fatal, but only a few studies provide information regarding its health relevance in Africa. S. stercoralis is an intestinal nematode that can persist in the human host for decades after the initial infection and can progress to fu...

Antioxidant and antiproliferative activities of mango (Mangifera indica L.) flesh and peel

The antioxidant and antiproliferative properties of flesh and peel of mango (Mangifera indica L.) were investigated. The cytoprotective effect of mango flesh and peel extracts on oxidative damage induced by H2O2 in a human hepatoma cell line, HepG2, were determined, and the underlying mechanism was examined by a single-cell electrophoresis assay (comet assay). Treatment of HepG2 cell with mango...

Anthelmintic activity of unripe Mangifera indica L. (Mango) against Strongyloides stercoralis

Strongyloidiasis is a parasitic disease, caused by a nematode helminth, Strongyloides stercoralis. The true prevalence of S. stercoralis is likely underestimated because infection is often subclinical. Currently, an estimated 100 million people are infected worldwide in more than 70 countries (Concha et al., 2005 -. Segarra et al., 2007). Though many advances have been made in the diagnosis and...

Comparative transcriptome analysis of unripe and mid-ripe fruit of Mangifera indica (var. “Dashehari”) unravels ripening associated genes

Ripening in mango is under a complex control of ethylene. In an effort to understand the complex spatio-temporal control of ripening we have made use of a popular N. Indian variety "Dashehari" This variety ripens from the stone inside towards the peel outside and forms jelly in the pulp in ripe fruits. Through a combination of 454 and Illumina sequencing, a transcriptomic analysis of gene expre...
